BATTERSEA'S MUDDY DOG CHALLENGE

This month our energetic (and very charitable) team took part in Battersea Dogs’ and Cats’ Homes “Muddy Dog Challenge” and raised over £1000.00 for the charity in the process! We would like to thank our incredibly generous clients and followers for all of your donations and well wishes!

The Muddy Dog Challenge is an annual event hosted by Battersea that aims to raise much needed funds for thousands of lost, abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats in their care.

Participants from “Team MBFKC”; Jake, Chloe and Trish were joined by their canine companions; Flynn, Harley and Hazel on a VERY muddy 5K assault course based at Windsor. Incredibly, the charity host this event at nine different locations across the country - what a huge operation and fantastic, fun filled way to help animals in need!

Other members of the MBFKC team came to cheer on Jake, Chloe and Trish, and much to our enjoyment, “Team MBFKC” enjoyed the additional support of several furry-four-legged cheerleaders who happened to be in our care at a boarding capacity on the day; Pierre the rescue, Sal the Dachshund, Binky the Toy Poodle and Rosie the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel did a great job at boosting “Team MBFKC’s” morale (and were of course the perfectly well behaved poster pooches for MBFKC)!

The event was such a joy to be a part of and went off without a hitch! There was ample parking, wash stations for muddy participants, heats that took off like clockwork and fantastic foodie stall options for spectators - everything was perfectly organised! Not to mention we enjoyed a beautiful sunny day and the commentary of a very dedicated and wildly entertaining compare, who had the pleasure of interviewing many of the participants (and their dogs) throughout the day (our four legged cheerleaders even got some air time)!

Jake, Chloe and Trish provide some insight into their experience participating in the Muddy Dog Challenge, as well as some words of wisdom for would-be participants below!

Trish, Pierre, Hazel and Sal

Why did you decide to take part in the Muddy Dog Challenge this year?

Trish: “Rescue is very important to me and I believe it's our duty to help all the little doggos less fortunate than our own”

Jake:Because it’s for a great cause and looked like it would be a pretty fun day out for me and Flynn.. which it was”

Chloe: “I feel that this charity really touches my heart coming from an animal background and I wanted to raise awareness, as well as support a Charity that I really believe in”

Jake and Flynn

Which doggy companion did you have supporting you on the assault course and how do you think they found it?

Trish:I took part with Hazel the Bichonpoo, who absolutely loved it! Hazel has always been a little tomboy at daycare and is never afraid to get her paws wet and muddy. She shone at the muddy dog challenge and proved that she's not just a pretty face”

Jake: “I had Flynn my Yorkie.. I reckon he found it fun - he was running ahead of me the whole time so made me look very unfit haha”

Chloe: “I competed with our lovely Harley, she was absolutely amazing and loved EVERY minute of it”

Do you have any advice or words of encouragement for any of your team members or pup parents that might be considering taking part next year?

Trish: “I would encourage everyone who can, to take part and get involved! Not only was it such a fun day out but it was all for a good cause, so what more could you want? Be prepared to ruin your clothes though”

Jake:Just go ahead and enjoy yourself; it’s not a race so take your time and make sure to keep hydrated, which is easy thanks to the great people there providing water”

Chloe: Train early, embrace the mud and watch how much fun all of the doggos are having”
